LOVE Island star Harriett Blackmore has explained her part in a shocking video footage involving a Premier League footballer.
A clip went viral earlier this week showing the new recruit defending a player who was accused of “beating up” a group of women – and Harriett now insists she was simply trying to calm things down as people ‘antagonised’ her footy playing pal.
In the video, Harriett, 24, can be seen intervening and ordering the women to clear off.
The woman filming can be heard saying: “You beat up my friends”.
In response, Harriett says: “He’s a Premier League football player so please leave him alone.”
Questioned about the footage before she enters the villa next week, Harriett told The Sun: “I believe it was a while ago now.
“I can’t remember exactly the video but I think if you watch it you can see that all I’m trying to do is defuse the situation.”
She continued: “I had a friend who’s in the public eye and these people were antagonising him.
“And my little brother was also there too, and I was just trying to like really diffuse the situation like mediate and just I didn’t want them to film because obviously that’s quite a lot for someone and I just wanted to enjoy my night.
“So I was just trying to make sure there was like no drama and really mediate situation.”
In the clip the mystery footie player can be seen behind Harriett covering his face with his coat to hide his identity.
The tense exchange goes on for about a minute whilst stunned onlookers watch on.
It ends with Harriett demanding the women’s phones.
