Murder Case: The Digital Detectives is a four-part series.
It follows the investigations of Nottinghamshire Police’s Digital Forensics Unit as they tackle real-life murder cases using technology.
In each episode, viewers see the intricate process of analysing digital evidence to track down suspects and uncover the truth behind their crimes.
Each case introduces new challenges, providing viewers with insight into the intersection of crime and technology today.
Episode one
In the aftermath of a brutal assault where a 17-year-old boy is chased down and stabbed, the only evidence comes from his declaration which is captured on a body camera.
To identify the culprits, Nottinghamshire Police rely on their Digital Forensics Unit to analyse online and phone footprints to track those responsible.
Viewers will be given an insight into the investigation into the teen’s death through the eyes of the officers involved in the case.
Episode two
After the brutal murder of a man in Scotland, forensic cops use ground-breaking techniques to identify possible suspects.
Episode three
The Digital Forensics Unit investigates the murder of a 13-year-old in a local park.
They track the suspects’ digital footprints.
Information about episode four is yet to be released.
Speaking about the series, Creative Director Joe Mather, said: “We’re proud to have made this ground-breaking series for Channel 4 which we’ve produced in close consultation with the families of the victims.
“It’s a boxed-set full of revelatory insights into how digital forensics units are constantly evolving to outsmart criminals.
“These crimes are often fuelled by social media, now we get to see how detectives are turning the tables, using the digital breadcrumbs left by murderers to bring them to justice.”
When is Murder Case: The Digital Detectives on?
It will be broadcast weekly on Channel 4 from Monday, April 15, 2024.
Each episode will air from 9 pm.
Each episode is approximately 60 minutes long.
