Her daughter Rosie is expecting with her partner Steve and, during Monday’s Lorraine show preview on Good Morning Britain, she revealed the new arrival will mean a change to her name.
GMB anchor Susanna Reid, 53, congratulated Lorraine on the sweet news, to which she replied: “So my married name is Smith.”
And bursting into giggles, she added: “So I will be granny Smith!” in an apparent reference to the apple type .
Susanna couldn’t hide her delight at the reference too as she burst out laughing too as Ed Balls smiled alongside her.
Lorraine is married to another Steve – cameraman Steve Smith – who prefers to stay away from the spotlight.
Lorraine continued: “Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages.
“It’s very kind of you, it means a lot.”
She then went on to say because her and Rosie’s partners were both called Steve, hers is “Northern Steve” while her daughter’s is “Southern Steve”.
Great gran
Earlier this month, we reported the ITV anchor’s happy granny news.
It came as Rosie– who she often mentions on her show – took to social media to share the exciting news.
She shared a snap of her pregnant baby bump as she was dressed all in black.
“We could not be more excited – you’re already so loved little one,” Rosie captioned the snap.
Lorraine then shared her excitement on her own Instagram, writing: ” The most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family.
“Cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve.
“It’s the best news ever”.
The pictures showed a framed scan of the baby at 12 weeks with the captions: “The bean at 12 weeks – the size of a fig.”
Show return
Lorraine was back on-screen on Monday after her fortnight away from screen.
As the Lorraine show wrapped last month, she told viewers: “That’s all for today, Christine Lampard is here tomorrow.”

She then added: “You have a good day and Happy Easter,” hinting she will also be replaced on her Monday show.
Meanwhile, Christine caused a stir during her time on the show as she took part in a very cheeky game.
The challenge saw her place a coin between her bum cheeks and try to deposit in a glass jar, as showcased expertly by In For A Penny anchor Stephen Mulhern.
