In season three, double-dealing DI Matthew Cottan, played by Craig Parkinson, was finally nailed after running a clandestine group of bent officers.
Elsewhere crafty DI Lindsay Denton, portrayed by Keeley Hawes, was sent down for her involvement in assassinating a protected witness.
Stephen Graham also starred on the cop show, after his character DS John Corbett went rogue during an undercover operation.
And in the latest series, it was revealed that Kelly MacDonald’s detective Joanne Davidson character was doing the bidding of criminal underworld figures – after being born into a life of crime.
But the biggest shocker was in the final episode when bumbling DCI Buckells, played by Nigel Boyle, was unmasked as the ‘fourth man’.
However there’s one soap star telly fave Compston would love to see swap the Square for the interrogation room.
The Scots actor revealed that EastEndersstarDanny Dyer would be a great addition to the police procedural drama.
He told The Mirror: ” Danny would be a great shout [as a ‘bent copper’ on the show].
“Danny is something else, honestly, he is one of our treasures. He is a wonderful actor – it would be good to see him in there.”
It comes after Compston revealed he gets to take home an iconic item from the Line of Duty set.
