The show is based on the 2016 film of the same name, which won an IFTA and the lead actors reprise their roles in the show.

Meanwhile, The Young Offenders will be returning for its fourth series on Friday, May 10 at 9:30pm.

The show first aired on Irish channel RTE, however, the drama later moved to BBC One.

In 2023, The Young Offenders continued to grow in popularity with 6.3 million iPlayer requests.

Although they are delinquents, the boys think deeply about certain topics, which is expressed by Conor in his narration.

Before the upcoming episodes, The Young Offenders last aired on RTE back in August 2020.

Storylines to date have seen Conor and Jock feud with their school principal Mr Walsh, as well as explore the boys’ relationships with Linda and Siobhan Walsh, his daughters.

The two boys also become foster parents after Conor’s mother Mairead took Jock in after learning of his abusive home life.

Other cast members include P.J. Gallagher, Orla Fitzgerald, Demi Isaac Oviawe and Shane Casey among others.

Love/Hate and The Umbrella Academy star Robert Sheehan featured in a 2018 Christmas special for The Young Offenders, playing himself.

The 36-year-old is also known for portraying the role of Nathan in E4’s Misfits.
