CORONATION Street fans were left gobsmacked after a fan favourite brazenly swore before the 9pm watershed.
Stunned viewers took to social media after witnessing two cobbles residents have a ‘wild’ chat during the latest instalment.
On Monday (April 22), a new episode of Corrie aired on ITV1, welcoming viewers back to the Cobbles for more drama.
During the episode, Glenda Shuttleworth, played by Jodie Prenger, caught up with Eileen Grimshaw, played by Sue Cleaver, about what they’d been watching on telly.
Not long after their conversion started, things took a naughty turn when Glenda made a cheeky quip.
Eileen asked her: “Are you alright? You look a bit tired.”
To which Glenda replied: “I just stayed up late last night.
“I was watching Love Island.
She added: “Not that I couldn’t sleep or anything, I just fancied the a**e off one of the contestants!” before letting out a cackle.
On X(Twitter), fans of the long-standing ITV soap were taken aback by Glenda’s cheeky words.
Many took to the social media platform and pointed out the blunder, with one viewer writing: “Fancy the a**e off did Glenda just say!”
A second person added: “Glenda said “a**e” pre-watershed as well haha.”
“Oh my God, wasn’t expecting that,” another wrote.
While a fourth penned: “Fancied the a**e off one of the contestants – Corrie getting a bit wild with the chat.”
Recently, in the soap, Glenda was the victim of a robbery.
After going to bed at the Rovers, Glenda heard noises from downstairs.
When she went to see what it was, she was shocked to find two masked men with baseball bats.
The men forced Glenda onto the floor before stealing various items from the beloved pub.
As the robbers made off with the takings, a shaken and traumatised Glenda called the police.
Jenny later returned home to find out from Glenda that they’d been robbed.
The incident left her shaken and traumatised.
Two years back, in August 2022, Jodie debuted as former cruise performer Glenda.
Since arriving in Weatherfield, she has reconnected with her brother George, landed a job in the Rovers Return, and become a firm favourite with viewers.
Last year, the star recalled her first day at Corrie, telling the Daily Star: “I remember I was stood in the corner of the Rovers on my first say sobbing, and someone from the crew came over, and I was like ‘I’m totally fine’.
“It is a constitution, and I think the first person I spoke to was from Gary from security and I was like ‘How long have you been here?’ and he was like, ’40 years Jodie’.
“They are a family, and I think it comes across on screen.”
Elsewhere on today’s episode, Roy Cropper’s dog Freddie went missing while Sam took him for a walk.
And Corrie fans raged at an animal cruelty scene that ‘overstepped the mark’.
