PHILLIP Schofield has continued his return to social media after months of silence.
The presenter shared another snap of his dog Alfie as This Morning viewers continue to switch off.
In the photo, the chocolate brown pup curled up on a rug and Phil joked: “Not sure where rug ends and Alfie begins!!”
Phillip chose to limit comments on the post, but one person joked: “Where’s Wally?”.
His return has been perfectly timed with This Morning’s slow demise.
Previously fronted by Phillip and Holly Willoughby, it has fallen into chaos after suffering its worst ratings in history.
In May last year, things started to turn sour for the show when Phillip quit after it was revealed he’d been lying about having an affair with a younger member of the production staff.
Holly followed him out the door months later after she was targeted by a man who had plans to kidnap and murder her.
The duo worked together on the show for 14 years and audiences loved their chemistry and genuine friendship.
However, since their departures, the sofa has been a revolving door with various presenters covering until ITV decided on Phil and Holly’s replacement.
Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary, Craig Doyle, Rylan Clark and Josie Gibson were some of the famous faces to stand in.
In February this year, This Morning announced that Cat Deeley, 47 and Ben Shephard, 49, would take on the main presenting roles.
Alison and Dermot were given the Friday morning show after proving a hit with viewers.
However, it seems the British public haven’t fallen in love with Cat and Ben in the way they did with Holly and Phillip.
in their first month, ratings fell from more than one million to 692,500, and after two months they have fallen as low as 635,000.
ITV points to the fact This Morning was watched, on average, 840,000 times a day in April.
But this includes viewings on ITV+1 and ITVX.
By April 30, the average number of people watching live was 544,000.
In May this year Phillip returned to Instagram after a year’s silence.
She shared a snap of his dog Alfie watching Formula 1 on TV.
The pooch was seen sitting on the end of his bed, with Phillip out of sight.
In his caption, the ex telly star wrote: “Thankfully, Alfie is a big @f1 fan.”
