However, viewers think the real culprit could be someone else lurking on the Cobbles.
Joel Deering has already got experience in keeping secrets, having failed to tell Dee-Dee Bailey about his wife and daughter during their relationship.
The couple broke up, but in recent weeks Joel has started to try to win Dee-Dee back.
Unfortunately, Corrie fans think he’s hiding a literal skeleton in his closet, and is behind Lauren’s disappearance.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “Joel definitely has Lauren locked in a basement and was her secret boyfriend.”
Another added: “I reckon Joel had something to do with Lauren’s disappearance. Shady…”
A third tweeted: “So Joel’s back on the scene as the Lauren Bolton disappearance ramps up a gear.
“My guess is that he’s the mystery boyfriend and is actually a psycho nutter who is holding Lauren captive in a cellar somewhere.”
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “Joel……. he’s keeping Lauren captive and using DeeDee to get lowdown on Roy’s case.”
However, other fans are not happy with the storyline being dragged out, after Daniel Osbourne was brought in for police questioning after Bobby Crawford changed his statement to try and help free Roy.
DS Swain brought up how Daniel had been tutoring Lauren and helping her pay for exams, which left him furious.
He hit back claiming the police had thing for arresting nice people, including Roy “the nicest man in the world.”
Coronation Street viewers were equally incensed, with one writing on X: “So is the moral of the story here with Daniel and Roy not to be nice to people and do a good deed lol.”
