It comes as execs grapple with cost cuts as well as Hollyoaks being slashed to just three episodes a week.
And now Ross has confirmed his final scenes are being shot today, Friday.
In a social update to fans, the 39-year-old said: “Been away filming in Malta but back on home soil now ready to shoot my last ever scene on @Hollyoaks this Friday.”
Fans flooded Ross with well-wishes following the news, as one said: “Scott will be missed! Good luck for the future, Ross.”
A second wrote: “I’m rooting for Scott to get his ‘Happy Ever After’. He’s had so many near misses with one and deserves it so much!!”
“Good luck in the future, Scott will always be one of my favourite characters & will miss him so much, hope he gets his happy ending,” said a third.
While a fourth commented: “Nooo. Hollyoaks can’t be without Scott!”
Ross has landed his first major role since leaving Hollyoaks, in the second series of hit Channel 5 drama, The Good Ship Murder.
The Sun confirmed previously that the show, which first aired last year, will return for two more series and a Christmas special.
Ross’ departure comes after Stephanie Warring was left in tears as she bid farewell to the Hollyoaks crew.
Even the 46-year-old’s 28 years of service couldn’t save her as the Cindy star became the only original character to be included in the cast cull.
Breaking down in tears on camera, she said: “Today I had to say goodbye to some crew members I have been working with for the last 16 years.
“And known for the last 28 years. And it just hit me like a thunderbolt. I’m really going to miss these people.”
