Carol absolutely stunned on-screen as she took to the airwaves in a stunning leopard print dress.

As she was first brought up onto the studio screens, Sally, 52, and Jon, 54, both sung a somewhat rowdy rendition of the traditional ‘Happy Birthday’ song.

Giggling along, she “Bless you both, that took me by surprise there completely!

However she couldn’t help but take a swipe at her BBC Breakfast co-stars with a jibe at their singing.

She sarcastically joked: “But how melodic!”

But fans couldn’t help but give gushing praise for the star as they took to X – formerly known as Twitter.

One fan gushed: “Happy Birthday Carol 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂 You are a national treasure 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Oh and thank you for the beautiful sunshine in the Portsmouth area this morning☀☀☀☀☀ Have a wonderful day.”

A second viewer stated: “Happy birthday Carol the nations weather girl 🍾🥂🎉.”

“Love the dress Carol – looking absolutely stunning! Me-Wow!,” exclaimed a third.

As a fourth wrote: “Can someone tell me where Carol Kirkwood got that dress from? It’s stunning and I want!😍.”

Joking about her ageless appearance, a fifth viewer sarcastically added: “Happy 30th birthday, Carol..”

This may have been a far more welcoming exchange than Carol is used to in the studio when she shares the screen with Naga Munchetty, 49.

Last month, viewers couldn’t help but notice a frosty atmosphere in the studio between the pair.

They thought Carol and Naga might be engulfed in a secret feud as the meteorologist made a huge swipe at her co-star.

One viewer wrote: “Naga and Carol really do hate each other.”

A second noted: “Naga and Carol have had a bit of a falling out this morning.”

They added: “You can cut the atmosphere with a knife.”

Who presents BBC Breakfast?

BBC Breakfast has several presenters throughout the week, here's a breakdown of who's on and when.

Every Monday to Wednesday Sally Nugent and Jon Kay are the lead presenters.

Thursday through Saturday is anchored by Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.

When the main presenters take time off, popular stand-ins have included the likes of Rachel Burden, Nina Warhurst, Tina Daheley and Sarah Campbell.

When she is not sitting on the sofa, Nina is known for her consumer and business reports which she presents Monday through to Wednesday.

Rachel Burden and Tina Daheley are well known within the BBC for their significant roles in radio.

Rachel has presented the weekday breakfast show on BBC Radio 5 Live since 2011.

This is as Tina is best known for reading the news on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Zoe Ball.

Ben Boulos is also a regular host during the week as he presents the business and consumer items every Thursday through to Saturday.

John Watson and former Strictly Come Dancing star Mike Bushell make up the sporting team.

Fan-favourite Carol Kirkwood is the main weather presenter after she worked behind the scenes of BBC Breakfast Time in 1983.
