HOLLYOAKS is making soap history as it announces a bold new move following a string of cast axes.

Bosses then announced a major cast cull in a bid to save money – with a whopping 20 characters axed.
But now the show has announced an exciting development in securing its future on air.
Episodes will be streamed internationally on YouTube in a bid to open the soap up to bigger audiences.
Daily episodes will drop on the Google-owned video platform a week after they’ve broadcast in the UK.
Previously, viewers in the US were able to watch the show on Hulu but bosses removed the episodes earlier this year.
Hollyoaks debuted full length episodes on YouTube at the start of 2024 for UK viewers which are currently being avidly watched by people aged 13 to 34.
Writers also took on the challenge of exploring difficult topics in the show, with many new viewers tuning in to see the sensitive portrayal of sibling sexual abuse and of a teen questioning their gender identity.
For those who were already long time fans of the soap, iconic characters such Theresa McQueen and Freddie Roscoe made a reappearance.
The show has seen positive results from these changes, as it gained 40 per cent more viewers in 2024.
