ROO'S ROAD TO STARDOM

ROO revealed she went from owning a shop in the Highlands to being watched by millions, in the space of 18 months.

The telly expert was catapulted to stardom and has been a mainstay on Bargain Hunt ever since.

On her journey from shop to screen, Roo wrote: “I didn’t go looking for ‘fame’ and it had to look pretty hard to find me in my wee corner of the Scottish Highlands.

“But thanks to the BBC show Antiques Road Trip, I now find myself juggling my career as an antiques dealer, TV ‘expert’ and presenter.

“After a visit to our shop in early 2015 I got a call from the producers, a few months after it was broadcast, in early 2016. I was asked if I would consider joining the BBC team of experts.”

“After 12 months of meetings, shadowing, screen tests and lots of studying, I was told I was ‘in’ and joined the legend Phil Serrell for my baptism on the BBC Antiques Road Trip.”

The antique guru joined the Bargain Hunt team in 2019 and also features on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

“I’m so excited to announce that I’m joining Lomond Radio as one of their presenters.

“I cannot wait because it’s been a community radio since Covid.

“It’s a fabulous, warm, friendly team and a radio station that keeps it real.

“I’m going to have my own two hour show every month.

“It’s coming to you soon and it’s all about Roo’s rhythms and why we love music.

“If you love music and want to lose yourself for two hours, please tune in to my show.”

Roo shot to fame in 2019 on the BBC daytime hit alongside fellow experts Eric Knowles and Caroline Hawley.

And she’s been a fan fave ever since, with scores of viewers rushing online to wish her well.

One wrote: “Gorgeous lady love watching you on Bargain Hunt and love the way you dress.”

Another said: “Congrats. I believe your voice will be perfect on radio.”

A third gushed: “A face for TV and a voice for radio if ever there was one.”

While one commented: “I can’t wait to hear you.”

Elsewhere two Bargain Hunt contestants have spilled backstage secrets from the show – and admitted lying on their applications.
