EASTENDERS fans have been left gutted over another shock exit just days after Whitney Dean left Walford.
Whitney – played by Shona McGarty – left on the bus with daughters Dolly and Britney in Thursday night’s episode of EastEnders.
Now it’s been suggested Penny Branning [Kitty Castledine] could be quitting Albert Square for good, just months after making an explosive return alongside cousin Lauren Branning, played by Jacqueline Jossa.
In a passing comment this week Penny told Lauren she will return to France this week.
It wasn’t clear if this will be a temporary break or something more permanent, and disappointed fans rushed to social media to have their say.
One wrote: “With Penny going back to France – is that a permanent or just a temp exit? I hope it’s only temporary.”
Another said: “It better only be temporary, they introduced her and have barely given her anything when she’s great.”
And a third added: “I’m praying she comes back I love Penny she is lovely and Kitty is gorgeous.”
Last week viewers slammed Whitney’s exit from the soap– calling it one of the “worst ever”.
Whitney had been devastated to discover on their wedding day that Zack Hudson [James Farrar] had cheated with Lauren.
She called the whole thing off and later told him that losing their first baby Peach had kept them together for the wrong reasons.
Whitney told Zack: “It’s OK that you didn’t love me enough. Maybe I didn’t love you enough either, because if I did then maybe I wouldn’t have lied to you about Britney?
“I feel that love for Peach, we both do. But do you think maybe that love and that pain kept us together for longer than it should have.
“It gave us Dolly though and I’ll never regret the time we had together but it’s over.”
