BABY Reindeer star Jessica Gunning has revealed the real reason she won’t talk about Martha.
Gunning plays obsessive stalker Martha in the Netflix smash.
The seven-part series shot to number one in countries across the globe.
Baby Reindeer is the brainchild of Scots comic Richard Gadd and is based on his stalking ordeal.
Struggling comic Donny, played by Gadd, gives Gunning’s Martha character a free cup of tea.
But after the random act of kindness, he was tormented with a four year stalking hell.
Gunning told the Radio Times: “Me and Richard have this close connection and I’m very concerned about anything that might upset him.
“He didn’t want any internet sleuths to go out and try and find the identities of these real people.
“He deliberately changed identities for a reason. But of course, in this day and age, it’s inevitable, especially with a show this big, that people are intrigued by who the real people are.”
She added: “I absolutely saw Martha as a character, I wasn’t doing an impersonation of a real person. I genuinely didn’t know anything about the real person.”
“I want to make sure that none of this is upsetting for him, really, so I try and keep out of any of that stuff.”
Last night we revealed that the real-life Baby Reindeer stalker was referred to a specialist police unit tackling obsessives over her harassment of Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
A formal complaint was made to police about Fiona Harvey after she bombarded Sir Keir and other Labour party figures with hundreds of emails.
The case was referred to the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC), a joint unit run by the Met Police and NHS.
It deals with obsessives who have a fixation with politicians and members of the Royal Family.
The Scottish Sun revealed how Ms Harvey – the inspiration for the Baby Reindeer character Martha in the Netflix hit – sent Sir Keir 276 emails over eight months.
