EMMERDALE actress Beth Cordingly has shared how her family were concerned about trolling when she first joined the show.

The star, 47, debuted in the Dales at the start of the year, playing Ruby Fox-Miligan, wife to Caleb (William Ash) and mother to their son Nicky (Lewis Cope).

Her character has already faced dramatic storylines in the ITV soap, including a rivalry with Moira Dingle, played by Natalie J. Robb.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press, Beth revealed how Ruby’s behaviour concerned her family when she began appearing in the soap.

She said: “My dad got very worried at the beginning. He said, ‘She’s so awful! You’re going to get trolled!’

“Then it went all around the family about being trolled and a friend of a member of my family rang and said, ‘We hear you’re being trolled!’ They like seeing the explosive drama but they do get a bit worried about Ruby’s behaviour.”

In recent scenes, Nicky was left for dead by dastardly lawyer Ethan Anderson (Emile John) following a car crash.

Nicky had been drowning his sorrows following a row with Caleb when boyfriend Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) called, in need of Nicky’s help.

Ethan, who had drunk less, offered to drive Nicky but their speediness to get to Suni led to an accident from which Ethan fled.

The truth came out as Ethan confessed to dad Charles (Kevin Mathurin), with the local vicar reporting what happened to the police.

With Ethan violently beaten and left for dead in a revenge whodunnit, could Ruby be responsible?

Before joining Emmerdale, Beth starred in ITV police procedural series The Bill, playing PC Kerry Young in more than 130 episodes.

Meanwhile Beth revealed earlier this year that she is in a relationship with Emmerdale legend Ian Kelsey.

The pair first met more than 20 years ago, went on to marry other people and reunited in 2021.

Ian, 57, portrayed iconic character Dave Glover from 1994 to 1997, being killed off after saving Jamie Tate from a fire.

Aside from Emmerdale, Ian has also appeared in other soaps, namely Doctors and Coronation Street.

Emmerdale airs on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
