EMMERDALE fans are suspicious that Ella Forster could somehow be linked to notorious serial killer Meena Jutla.
Ella – played by former Coronation Street actress Paula Lane – arrived in Emmerdale earlier this year and has formed a romance with local doctor Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
Viewers will likely recall how evil Meena (Paige Sanhu) killed Liam’s daughter Leanna (Mimi Slinger), as well as Andrea Tate (Andrea Nightingale) and Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon).
Meena last appeared on the ITV soap more than two years ago, when she was sentenced to a minimum of 75 years in prison for her horrific crimes.
Her reign of terror also saw Meena hold Billy (Jay Kontzle) and Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) at gunpoint on their wedding day.
This was an incident Ella was very interested in learning more about when she asked the pair about their experience.
Eagle-eyed fans also spotted Ella’s reference to a friend of hers who was a nurse, much like Meena, when talking to Liam.
Considering the limited information on Ella’s past, any mention she makes about her past at this point is significant.
Suspicions of Ella having a connection to Meena and Leanna’s fate intensified during Tuesday (May 14)’s episode.
Having spent the night with Liam at Tenant’s, Ella came downstairs to find a note left by Liam, explaining he had gone out to get croissants.
Although Ella looked happy and relaxed, she spotted a framed photo of Leanna when looking around the room.
She was soon interrupted by Liam’s return and moved to have breakfast, leaving Leanna’s photo on the coffee table.
Liam, with his usual awkwardness, kept apologising in case he was being a bit much.
As he was talking, Ella glanced back on a couple occasions at the photo of Leanna.
Then, Liam discussed his daughter, saying that Ella’s spontaneity was “refreshing. Especially after… Leanna.”
He said she put him at ease and made him feel more like himself than he could remember.
Liam told Ella: “Not that I’ll ever be the same again, not since Meena stole Leanna from me.”
Here, Ella’s expression changed as she said made her excuses and dashed off, leaving Liam wondering what had happened.
Ella had seemed fine with Leanna’s mentions, but did hearing Meena’s name make her react strangely?
Later on, Liam found Ella in the Woolpack knocking back wine.
Viewers also took X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their thoughts, with one speculating: “If Ella has something to do with Meena, it makes sense why she latched on to Liam considering Leanna was her first victim when she arrived in Emmerdale #emmerdale.”
Another added: “It sure seems like Ella got some connection to leanna or meena.. lot of red flags, she’s managed to widdle her way in with Liam she just seems odd #Emmerdale.”
A third commented: “Just worked this out Ella has recently come out of prison and is living in a hostel.
“She met Meena inside, she’s made her way towards Emmerdale. I think maybe for revenge on behalf of Meena when she was looking at Liam’s photo of his daughter got me thinking.”
