EMMERDALE’S Matthew Wolfenden has landed a new job alongside a soap ex – and it’ll reveal major behind-the-scenes secrets.

The 44-year-old actor left the ITV soap and his role as David Metcalfe last year after nearly two decades.

But now he has teamed up with former co-star and on-screen ex Roxy Shahidi for a new project.

The pair will host a podcast called Celebrity Side Hustles, which will see them discuss what celebrities get up to outside of their day jobs.

Matthew took to his Instagram Stories to share the news, posting a snap of recording equipment and a screen showing their logo.

He wrote: “Hosted by two fools (and besties)” before tagging himself and Roxy in it.

While Matthew left Emmerdale last year, Roxy, 41, still plays Leyla Harding, one of David Metcalfe’s exes.

Since leaving the soap, Matthew has starred in the West End production of Elf, which is based on the 2003 Christmas movie lead by Will Ferrell.

Meanwhile Roxy is currently appearing on Drama Queens, ITVBe’s fly-on-the-wall series following a number of soap actresses off-screen.

She recently opened up about taking part in the documentary, and how vulnerable she felt initially.

She said: “When the camera is rolling, it’s just you, the other ladies and this crew you’ve got to know and trust.

“But a few weeks later, you realise it’s actually going out on television and you can’t quite remember what it was you said.

“All you do remember is feeling vulnerable.

“I kept thinking, ‘What did I say? And how upset did I get?’ On Emmerdale, you perform a script and you’ve got that character to hide behind – but this is you, in the moment, being as authentic as you can be.

“And that leaves you feeling a little bit exposed.”

Roxy – who also took part in this year’s Dancing on Ice – added: “Doing a lot of press or reality stuff, or anything that really exposed me on a personal level, is something I’ve previously shied away from, because it made me feel vulnerable.

“Rather than brave it and put my toe in the water, I just kind of hid away from it.”
