A LOVE Triangle star opened up about her ‘toxic abusive’ relationship as she criticised her cheating ex.

Contestant Kelly Gray, 43, appeared on the exciting new show, which sees singles spend 48 hours texting two potential suitors before moving in with one after a blind date – with the second following soon after.

The star has now opened up about being single for eight years prior to joining the show due to a dreadful past relationship.

Kelly said: “I was in a toxic, abusive relationship for 3 years.

“We had known each other through mutual friends. When he started to pursue me, I rejected him on many occasions, before finally agreeing to go on a date after my friend convinced me.

“It was all lovely to begin with. But things got pretty bad, pretty quickly.

“He was mentally and emotionally abusive, always calling me ugly and fat and telling me I wasn’t good enough. He would tell me my family didn’t love me, my friends don’t like me, that I wasn’t good enough for him.

“He was also a serial cheater. We would go on nights out and he would disappear with other women.

“He was physically abusive at times too.

“He was a bodybuilder and a window cleaner on the side, but I paid for everything for him. I paid for him to live.’

“One of my worst memories was going on holiday with my family to Cuba, and my boyfriend would spend the entire trip staring at another girl. He disappeared one night, and I could only assume the worst.

“My family always saw that side of him. My mum was actually scared of him. My sister stopped talking to me for a year- and we are a very close family.

“It took a while to realise my situation, but I am glad to be out of it.

“I went on to the show to get out of my comfort zone. I’ve spent 8 years avoiding love out of fear. But I am ready to get out there again.”

Kelly has since sparked a promising romance with basketballer Mike Tuck on the show.

After he asked her: “Why do you think it’s been 8 years since your last serious relationship?,” Kelly said: “I need space after my last relationship, it was extremely toxic.”

Prior to her stint on the e4 series, created by the makers of Married At First Sight Australia, Kelly was a personal trainer.
