The 1% Club episodes always begin with 100 contestants, but gradually, players are eliminated after incorrectly answering a series of questions that require reason and logic until only one question stands between the winner and the cash prize.

On Saturday, April 13, host Lee returned to ITV screens, but one question left fans gobsmacked.

QUESTION:

“Whose mug belongs on the top shelf with the others?”

The players were given four options: ALF, SUE, MEG and BEN.

The four mugs were underneath a top row, which displayed HAT, LOG, OLD and ROW written on four mugs.

Can you work it out?

As the show aired, fans took to X(Twitter) and reacted to the question, with one viewer raging: “Boo, I’m out! Still going to see if can get rest right on the TV.”

Another raged, “I’m sorry, but that was a daft question,” while a third asked, “Oh man, I feel like such a mug for not getting this yet aced the 15% one. What is wrong with me?!”

A fourth commented, “This is officially the most annoying question of the evening,”

Someone else wrote: “Worst question the show has ever had”, while another simply said, “I don’t get it.”

Have you figured out the answer yet? If so, congratulations, and read on.

If you haven’t cracked the riddle yet, take your time and do not read past this sentence.

ANSWER:

The answer was ALF[/caption]

Lee explained that the handle of the mugs formed a ‘C’, thus making the words CHAT, CLOG, COLD and CROW.

So the answer to the 30% question meant ALF belonged on the top row because you could make CALF using the ‘c’ in front.

The tricky question saw an incredible 20 people crash out while 18 others used their passes, which allowed them to skip the question.

As the number of people eliminated was revealed, Lee remarked, “Wow,” before adding, “We lost 20 people on that one. Well done if you got the answer.”

Taking to social media, another viewer of The 1% Club exclaimed: “Ugh! Worst performance ever from me. #The1PercentClub See you next week when I do better, I hope.”

“For the first time ever, I would have got every question right on #The1PercentClub… if it hadn’t been for that stupid cup question,” another raged.

Some else followed it with: “This show is mad. Didn’t get the mug question, yet 25% jumped straight out at me. #The1PercentClub “

Another quizzed, “Surely it was Sue, as the mugs on the top are in alphabetical order, and only Sue fits for the next mug on the top?”

A fifth user added,  “Absolutely one of the worst questions on the show. Ever.”
