PAUL Hollywood was left disgusted after being served ‘terrible’ raw pastry during The Great Celebrity Bake Off.
This week’s special episode for Stand Up to Cancer saw another four famous faces enter the tent.
They were BBC Radio and TV star Sara Cox, the Rev Richard Coles, Heartstopper actor Joe Locke and The Last Leg host Adam Hills.
The foursome had to complete three challenges including signature biscuit bars and a showstopper cake dedicated to their best showbiz friend.
But it was the technical challenge which saw all four celebrities come unstuck, as Paul tasked them with making custard slices.
The stars all struggled to get their pastry to be ready in the allotted time, while also having issues with making the custard.
In the end, there were four plates of relatively dismal custard slices put on the gingham altar for Paul and fellow judge Prue Leith, and he made his feelings very clear.
As he pulled apart and tried actor Joe’s offering, he said bluntly: “That pastry is basically terrible.”
He then struggled to swallow what he’d had and said: “Wow” as Prue stepped in and added: “It’s raw…definitely not a good custard slice.”
Their comments left Bake Off viewers racing to X – formerly Twitter – to react, with one writing: “‘Joe that pastry is AWFUL’ Paul Hollywood watch your mouth.”
Another added: “Paul Hollywood really stitched them up with these slices didn’t he?”
A third tweeted: “all these technical bakes look bad.”
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “I swear the purposely don’t give them enough time any more.”
Thankfully, the celebrities all did better in the showstopper challenge but Sara was the one who came out on top and ended up receiving the star baker apron.
