To reveal the news, Dan posted a selfie of himself posing with Nadiya, 34, on Instagram. Alongside it, he references his affectionate nickname for her, writing: “The Yorkshire Barmaid Returns!!!”
He continued, explaining the reason for their new team up.
“Great to be back in the rehearsal room with professional partner and multiple world champion, Nadiya Bychkova. We have been asked to dance at the Royal Albert Hall this Saturday night to the iconic Chariots of Fire music from Vangelis!!!
“It is the first time Nadiya has ever danced in the iconic venue and it’s all part of Prom Praise 2024 – a live celebration of 100 years since Eric Liddell famously won his gold medal at the Paris Olympics,” Dan explained, before teasing what he and Nadiya have in store for their performance.
He said: “Good news: Nadiya has choreographed something beautiful – ‘a lyrical cross between an American Smooth & a Viennese Waltz.’
“Good news 2: my Strictly trousers still fit,” Dan added jokingly, before admitting: “Bad News: I have forgotten how much your body aches.
“It has been great to dance again, and I can’t wait for Saturday night. There is a full orchestra and choir and it’s going to be incredible,” he concluded.
This will be the first time Dan and Nadiya have danced together since their stint on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
When was Dan on Strictly – and how did he do?
Dan competed on the reality dance show in 2021, alongside a number of celebs, including CBBC presenter Rhys Stevenson, Bake Off winner John Whaite, McFly singer Tom Fletcher.
He and Nadiya made it to the final five, but were eliminated before they could claim a spot in the semi-finals.
The 2021 competition was won by Rose Ayling-Ellis and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice after they went head to head with John Whaite and Johannes Radebe.
Rose’s win meant she became the first ever deaf person to win on the show, with the pair scoring two-perfect scores during the final.
