TV Star Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he’s been inundated with bad news on Diddly Squat farm ahead of the new series of Clarkson’s Farm.
Jeremy, 64, has shared a grave update on the state of his farm, revealing that “everything that could go wrong has gone wrong” in between series 2 and 3.
Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton is owned and run by Jeremy with the help of his right-hand man Kaleb Cooper and is the setting for the Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm.
Having impressed viewers a lot during series 1 and 2, Clarkson’s Farm is back for a third series which will premiere on Prime on May 3.
However, in the first episode of the new series, Jeremy opens up about the onslaught of challenges he and his team have faced in months since series 2 concluded.
Weather woes
One of the worst issues they’ve had on the farm has been the changeable weather conditions. Diddly Squat experienced a scorching hot summer followed by torrential rain in the spring, which has not been conducive to growing barley and potato crops.
The adverse weather conditions had induced skin hardening in potatoes, stunting their growth and making them too small for harvesting machinery to pick up.
Jeremy and Kaleb, 25, do what they can to harvest the remaining potatoes by hand, but have little success.
As a result, the farm is now under heavy financial strain — and unfortunately, Jeremy’s woes don’t end there.
The TV presenter faces another crushing blow as he hears disheartening news just minutes into the new show episode.
“Behind the scenes, everything that could go wrong has gone wrong,” Jeremy admits in relation to his new “unfarming” experiment.
Additionally, he has discovered that his sunflowers can’t be harvested, and he receives a closure notice for his restaurant, which he fought so hard to open.
The worst disaster involves the piglets Jeremy added to the farm, as they sadly died.
This was a major blow for everyone on the farm.
“It was just a heartbreaking time. I’ve never, ever seen Lisa cry – not once, ever since that all started and was unfolding. It was terrible,” he said.
Despite all the mishaps and tragedy at Diddly Squat, Jeremy is still working hard to make a life for himself in the countryside.
And more of his efforts will be revealed in the upcoming third season of the farming show.
So far, the former Grand Tour host has been praised for his commitment to farming and the positive impact he’s had on the agriculture industry.
