When asked by The Sun if police were any closer to finding the rare car, Mike had solemn news[/caption]

Mike, 59, and his co-star Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley had purchased the classic as part of the show’s 20th anniversary special for £11,000.

However, moments after restoring and filming the motor it was snatched by thieves in the middle of the night.

And now, when asked by The Sun if police were any closer to finding the rare car, Mike had solemn news.

He exclusively said: “We would love to be able to tell you that we’ve got the cat back, but unfortunately it’s the story that keeps on going.

“The Fiesta is no more. It’s been stolen and I don’t think we’re going to ever see it again.”

“But if it was ever to be found we would tell you immediately so you don’t have to keep asking us.

“We wake up every day, me and Elvis, to 100 people asking where’s the Fiesta, have you got the Fiesta back and we still haven’t.”

Mike and Elvis had restored the car to mark a fond farewell to the model after Ford scrapped it last year.

Crooks apparently only took 25 minutes to drive the car away, despite it being chained up inside a lorry and being equipped with a wheel lock.

Mike added: “I think the police, with the greatest respect to Great Yorkshire Police, I think they’re busy writing tickets for people that are driving three miles per hour too fast.

“If the car was doing 33 in a 30 [zone] they would have found it, put it that way.”

The petrol heads are back on Discovery later this month with a new series of Wheeler Dealers.

The six-month adventure saw them visit countries in Europe as well as head to North America and even Down Under.

Ten things YOU should know as a car owner

But the show wasn’t without mishaps as Mike and Elvis revealed a crash happened off camera resulting in them ploughing through a motorway barrier.

Wheeler Dealers World Tour will be available on Discovery Channel and discovery+, airing weekly on Mondays at 9pm from 29th April.
