EASTENDERS legend Michelle Collins has broken her silence on rumours she is leaving the soap.
The actress, 61, reprised her role as Cindy Beale on the BBC soap last year, having first taken on the part in 1988.
Appearing on last night’s The One Show, Michelle addressed the rumours she may be quitting Albert Square again.
The soap star was on the show to promote her upcoming movies Stephen and Self Storage.
During the interview, host Alex Jones asked if the movies would impact her time on the BBC One soap.
But Michelle used the opportunity to reassure fans that Cindy isn’t leaving Walford anytime soon.
“I’ve still got my part-time job,” the actor joked, adding that she works on the films in her “spare time”.
Before adding: “I’m still very much in EastEnders.”
Michelle Returned to EastEnders after her character Cindy faked her own death in 1998.
She became a household name upon her original debut and became the first of Albert Square lothario Ian Beale’s six wives.
Cindy had affairs, kidnapped her own children and hired a hitman to kill Ian, played by Adam Woodyatt, 55, for which she was ultimately sent to prison in 1998.
There she was killed off off-screen with viewers told she died in childbirth with daughter Cindy Jr.
In a surprising turn of events in August, Michelle staged a comeback following the revelation that her character had been in witness protection all along.
During her time away from Albert Square, Michelle joined Coronation Street.
She played Stella Price after she met the show’s producer and close friend Phil Collinson.
Her character was the landlady of the Rovers Return pub.
It was announced Michelle was leaving Coronation Street in August 2013, later claiming she was unhappy with her characters lack of screen time.
She made her final appearance as Stella on April 2, 2014.
Michelle has starred in various other dramas including Casualty, Death in Paradise and Midsomer Murders.
