The new highly anticipated six-part series will once more invite viewers into the extraordinary world of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s storytelling
Fans of the show, which is scheduled to air on BBC Two on Wednesday, May 8 at 10pm will once again be introduced to six new stand-alone stories.
Each will be set in a different location, with the style and tone changing radically each week.
Last year, it was announced that the beloved comedy would wrap up after series nine.
The stellar line-up of guest stars who will be fronting series nine alongside Benidorm star Matthew Kelly is Pennyworth star Dorothy Atkinson, Napoleon’s Mark Bonnar, This Country’s leading actress Charlie Cooper, Derry Girls star Philippa Dunne, Happy Valley actress Siobhan Finneran and Game of Thrones Joel Fry.
Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly, Happy-Go-Lucky star Eddie Marsan, Boiling Point’s Vinette Robinson, Gavin and Stacey actor Adrian Scarborough, Adult Material star Hayley Squires, and Chewing Gum’s Susan Wokoma will also be starring in the hit series, which BBC Studios Comedy Productions produced.
Season nine of the BAFTA award-winning comedy is airing in May[/caption] The series has consistently ranked as one of the biggest comedies across the BBC[/caption]Ahead of the upcoming series, the show creators Reece and Steve said: “It is with mixed emotions that we announce we have started filming the final series of Inside No. 9.
“We overheard some crew members the other day describe us as ‘a couple of Wonkas’ and that seems an apt description.
“We take the finest ingredients (stellar casts and creatives) and blend them with our secret recipe to produce unique confections that are delicious and often deadly.
“It has been the greatest privilege to have been allowed to make 55 wildly different episodes, and we’ll miss the yearly challenge of trying to entertain and surprise our audience.
“We honestly feel like golden ticket winners – which makes us not a couple of Wonkas but a pair of Charlies.”
The series is currently the longest-running comedy show on BBC Two.
Inside No. 9 airs globally in countries including the Nordics, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Australia, and China.
The eight previous seasons of the show became very successful and received widespread critical acclaim, winning an enviable string of awards, including Best Scripted Comedy at the 2021 BAFTA TV Awards following its launch ten years ago.
All previous episodes of Inside No. 9 are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
