THE BBC has released first look pictures of the cast from the brand-new series of comedy thriller The Outlaws, ahead of its return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer next month.

The show, created by award-winning writer and director Stephen Merchant, is back for a third outing next month.

Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning will be starring as newbie Diane, along with an all-star cast including The Office’s Stephen Merchant returning as Greg, No Escape star Rhianne Barreto as Rani, Soon Gone: A Windrush Chronicle star Gamba Cole as Ben, Killing Eve’s Darren Boyd as John, The Wheel of Time’s Clare Perkins as Myrna, Poldark actress Eleanor Tomlinson as Lady Gabby, Black Mirror star Charles Babalola as Malaki, Brassic’s Tom Hanson as Spencer and Dune: Part Two actor Christopher Walken as Frank.

In the newly-released images, Jessica looks unrecognisable in a navy uniform as she addresses the group in orange high-vis vests.

Another snap sees Rani with a bloody face in the bushes, peeping at something, while a third photo shows Frank rejoicing alone.

The fourth newly released picture sees Gregg, John and Myrna in the dark woods with shovels.

The upcoming series follows a group of strangers from different walks of life forced together to complete a community payback sentence in Bristol.

Series three begins with crime boss The Dean (Claes Bang, Bad Sisters) behind bars awaiting trial.

The Outlaws are moving on with their lives—until one of their own returns with a deadly secret, hurling them back into mortal danger.

As a murder search closes in on the gang, they try to prove their innocence before The Dean’s case collapses, and he comes looking for revenge.

Last year, Stephen revealed that he was working on the third series of The Outlaws.

At the time, he said: “I’ve had a lovely response to The Outlaws.

“I’ve had a few people stop me on the stairs – that’s mainly why I come out.

“We’re toying with a few ideas at the moment, so hopefully, we’ll do a third series.

“You want to start from the writing perspective and fill in the blanks.

“But it would be nice to work with someone like Michael Caine, who I’ve always been a big fan of but have never had a chance to work with. Those kinds of British icons, that would be a privilege.”
