BRITAIN’S Got Talent judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon broke down in tears tonight as they watched an eight-year-old boy with a brain tumour sing with his choir.
The group, Ravi’s Dream Team, fronted by Ravi, landed the coveted golden buzzer – and have been put straight through to the live show after Alesha hit the button.
Taking to the stage, Ravi introduced his sister, mother and father to the judges and explained his reasoning for being on the show as he stood alongside the group, ranging from age five to 78.
“I’ve watched BGT all my life and always wanted to audition for it,” he said.
“Two years ago I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and I’m here to show no matter what life throws you can still achieve your dreams.”
Ravi and the choir performed A Million Dreams from movie musical The Greatest Showman which left everyone incredibly emotional.
Explaining why she pressed the buzzer, Alesha said: “The golden buzzer is such a personal thing and I always say I can only press it when it feels right and you’re such a remarkable young man.”
Simon told him: “Ravi, I think you’re very talented, very brave, very special person. I’m so happy that you’ve had this moment because you deserve it, all of you. That’s what I call magic.”
The judges then got to their feet as the members of the choir, which comprised Ravi’s friends, family, teachers from school, medical professionals and other children from the brain tumour community, hugged each other in celebration.
Those watching at home were just as emotional, with one person commenting: “Not me sobbing at Ravi on BGT.”
A second said: “Golden Buzzer from Alesha to Ravi and the amazing choir who had me and mum in tears !!”
While a third added: “Ravi’s Dream Team, I’m not crying you are! #BGT.”
