JUST one week after the show premiered, Amazon has announced that season two of an acclaimed live-action series.
The first season landed on the streaming platform on April 10, and since then, fans have labelled it the ‘best show of 2024’ with many clearing their weekend diaries to eagerly binge-watch the new release.

Set more than 200 years after a terrible nuclear war, the luckiest of the survivors are living in super-safe fallout bunkers called Vaults, unwilling to venture outside.
Young Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, decides to leave the safety of her Vault, where she finds a ruined wasteland filled with dangerous characters, all intending on staying alive at any cost, including ruthless (and nose-less) bounty hunter The Ghoul, played by Walton Goggins.
However, after learning that her father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) has been kidnapped, Lucy emerges from her shelter and returns to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind.
The official synopsis for the Fallout series, from Prime Video, reads: “Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have.
“200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.”
Since Fallout was released, Prime Video users have taken to social media and hailed the series created by Kilter Films and executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.
Taking to X(Twitter), one viewer raved: “The hype is real Fallout is by farrrr the best TV show of 2024 by faaaaarrr! That first episode was perfect #Fallout.”
Fallout has been renewed for a second season on Amazon Prime[/caption] The Prime Video shows stars Ella Purnell[/caption]Another described Fallout as “near perfect”, suggesting it will reach the same successful heights as fellow game adaptation and megahit The Last of Us.
A third added: “No notes. The music is so on point. I’ve been smiling all the way though.”
Someone else followed it with: “I didn’t survive the temptation. It was amazing. I laughed, I cried, I laid my party plans to waste like a good wastelander. #Fallout #Sweepstakes #FalloutonPrime.”
Before Amazon announced the renewal of the second season, another fan pleaded for a second season, describing Fallout as ‘incredible.’
“I hope they’ve already got season 2 written, at least because I’d prefer not to have to wait 3 years to watch it. The acting was phenomenal. The vfx, both practical and cgi, were perfect. GIVE ME SEASON 2 NOW!” they begged.
Starring alongside Ella, Walton, and Kyle in Fallout are Aaron Moten (Emancipation), Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Michael Emerson (Person of Interest), Leslie Uggams (Deadpool), Frances Turner (The Boys), Dave Register (Heightened), Zach Cherry (Severance), Johnny Pemberton (Ant-Man), Rodrigo Luzzi (Dead Ringers), Annabel O’Hagan (Law & Order: SVU), and Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time).
Ahead of Fallout’s release Kyle spoke to Metro.co.uk and explained the relationship between Hank and Lucy that drew him to the script.
He said: “You can see they’re really comfortable with each other; they really get along well and that was that was important.
“I have a son who is 15, I understand the parent-child relationship and how important that is, and I wanted to bring that kind of warmth.”
In its first four days, the high-octane-fueled series – which reached more than 240 countries and territories worldwide – became a hit with its global audience.
Fallout ranks among Prime Video’s top three most-watched titles ever and the most-watched season globally since Rings of Power.
Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, said: “Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have captivated the world with this ground-breaking, wild ride of a show.
“The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game, and so far, we seem to have exceeded their expectations while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise.
“The cast led by Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan have knocked it out of the park!”
“We’d like to thank Jonah and Lisa and our friends at Bethesda for bringing the show to us as well as Geneva and Graham for coming aboard as showrunners.
She concluded: “We are thrilled to announce season two after only one week out and take viewers even farther into the surreal world of Fallout.”
Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Kilter Films, added: “Praise be to our insanely brilliant showrunners, Geneva and Graham, to our kick*** cast, to Todd and James and all the legends at Bethesda, and to Jen, Vernon and the amazing team at Amazon for their incredible support of this show.
“We can’t wait to blow up the world all over again.”
