A BELOVED former star of the Great British Bake Off has landed a new BBC show.

Dame Mary Berry served as judge on the popular baking contest from 2010 to 2016, its entire run on the BBC.

She exited alongside presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins when the format moved to Channel 4 in 2017.

Her fellow judge Paul Hollywood stayed on with the show, where he was joined by South African restaurateur Prue Leith.

Almost a decade after her Bake Off departure, the much-loved food writer and chef is fronting a new show which will air in the autumn.

Titled Mary’s Foolproof Dinners, it is set to launch ahead of Mary’s 90th birthday next year.

It follows last year’s runaway hit Mary Makes It Easy – in which the star cooked alongside the likes of Lorraine Kelly and Anton Du Beke.

A source told The Mirror: “Mary Makes It Easy was really well received and BBC bosses wanted to make another series this year.

“Mary has plenty of famous fans who were lining up to be in the first one so it was a no-brainer to a follow-up series with a twist – that the dishes are completely foolproof.

“She is the queen of cooking shows, but these shows are also so feel-good that you don’t have to be a fan of cooking to tune in.

“The feedback was that viewers also enjoyed seeing her chat to the celebrities in the kitchen.

“And this new series continues that – every episode has a new celebrity and is filmed in a different location.”

The fan-favourite, 89, who was made a Dame in 2020, has hosted her own cooking shows for the Beeb since 2014.

She joined the panel on BBC contest Best Home Cook in 2018.

The following year, Mary presented a Christmas Show – A Very Royal Christmas – with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will put these 20 star bakers through their paces in the famous white tent:

Additionally, she is an occasional contributor to Woman’s Hour and Saturday Kitchen.

Mary has also authored around 80 cookbooks.

Meanwhile, Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas, a festive cookery special presented by Mary, aired on BBC One in December 2023.

Before finding television fame, the Bath-born star moved to France aged 22 to study at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school.
