BBC Radio hosting shake-up as Emma Barnett’s replacement revealed – and they’re hitting air next month

BBC Radio has confirmed a hosting shake-up after Emma Barnett revealed she was walking away from Woman’s Hour.

The host had been at the helm of the popular BBC Radio 4 show over the past three years but she confirmed that she would be quitting earlier this year.

Nuala McGovern will be taking over as the show’s host on Monday through Wednesday[/caption]

Emma walked away last week with the Beeb now confirming the journalist that will be taking her place.

Irish journalist and broadcaster Nuala McGovern will now be taking over from Emma and sharing duties hosting the programme alongside Anita Rani.

Nuala will host proceedings Monday through Wednesday before Antia hosts Thursday to Saturday.

Anita is already on the airwaves but will now gain an additional day to take her hosting duties to three editions of the programme a week.

Meanwhile, Nuala will join the radio show next month on a regulalr basis.

Nuala is no stranger to the BBC having worked with the corporation for more than 20 years.

She has been one of the leading faces on the BBC World Service and has broadcast live reports from 30 different countries around the world.

Nuala had previously been involved with woman’s hour before having been one of the women to interview names included in their Power List.

Speaking of her appointment to the programme, Nuala said: “It is a real privilege to present this extraordinary programme.

“I’m looking forward to working with the superb Woman’s Hour team on the rigorous journalism expected on women’s issues but also making time for escapism and fun.”

“I’m especially looking forward to getting back to the Woman’s Hour listeners, I have missed them.”

Anita also gushed over Nuala coming on board to host, saying: “Like our listeners, I love hearing Nuala when I’m not presenting. What a tag team we will be time to take Woman’s Hour to the next level”

Meanwhile, the programme’s editor, Karen Dalziel, added: “I’m delighted that Nuala McGovern is joining Woman’s Hour.

“She’s an exceptional journalist who brings an astonishing range of broadcasting experience to this role.”
