MARTINE Croxall has launched legal action against the BBC after being off air for more than a year, according to reports.
The 55-year-old news anchor was one of five women pulled off air last year and hasn’t been seen on screen since.
Martine’s disappearance came following the merging of the BBC’s news channels in a cost-cutting measure.
She was stood down from presenting duties alongside Geeta Guru-Murthy, Karin Giannone, Kasia Madera and Annita McVeigh.
However, in recent weeks Geeta and Annita returned to the studio after being handed chief presenting roles.
Martine, Kasia and Karin are still off air with no indication on when they will return to air.
Following this, Deadline report Martine has now launched legal action against the Beeb and will take them to a two-day employment tribunal next month.
The BBC declined to comment when contacted by The Sun.
The shock news comes after Martine appeared to confirm to her followers she was returning to the broadcaster.
She told fans her on air comeback was “not long now” before adding how “it’ll be great to be back on air in what promises to be a busy year”.
However, Martine stopped short on revealing an exact date, telling them: “Date tbc but not long!”
Last week Karin announced her return to BBC News had been hampered after undergoing major surgery.
Posting to social media, the 50-year-old revealed she’s undergone major knee osteotomy surgery.
The operation sees medics cutting through the leg bone to alleviate symptoms of arthritis by realigning the foot.
