The 61-year-old is son of David Mountbatten, 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven, and Janet Mercedes Bryce.
He is the Monarch’s second cousin through his father’s lineage and was praised for being the first extended member of the Royal Family to come out as gay.
Moutbatten tied the knot with James Coyle in 2018 – the first same-sex wedding the firm had seen.
He had previously wed Penelope Thompson in 1994 and they shared three daughters, Ella, Alix and Luli.
The pair divorced in 2011, before Mountbatten announced his homosexuality in 2016.
Despite being King Charles’ second cousin, the 61-year-old admitted he is not in regular communication with the family.
He told previously told Tatler: “The family has got very large.
“When we were younger we went to royal events all the time. But now that everyone has had children, quite rightly everything has slimmed down.”
However the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are godparents to his children and their bond remains strong.
Meanwhile, Moutbatten is no stranger to TV.
He appeared on our screens before when he featured on Keeping Up With the Aristocrats in 2022.
It allowed viewers an insight into his life with James as they opened their own pop-up restaurant at their stately home in Bridwell.
