CORONATION Street star Andy Whyment hit back after a troll slammed him for purchasing a £40k car.
The 43-year-old took to Instagram to reply to a user who criticised him for not buying a luxury vehicle.
Yesterday, Andrew treated himself to a sportage GT line Kia, which is turbocharged and has an annual mileage of 10,000.
On his announcement post, one troll commented: “I’d of thought with all your money you’d of had a decent car!”
Andrew replied: “Kia’s are a decent car, and I don’t earn as much as you probably think I do.”
Other fans were quick to support the purchase and give the star praise. One fan commented: “Congrats! Andy you will love this, it’s an awesome car!!”
Whilst another added: “Lovely car, Kia make good cars, enjoy it you deserve it.”
His high end purchase comes after we revealed that Andy had recently signed a large six figure salary to remain on the cobbles for the foreseeable future, having already played the character of Kirk Sutherland for an incredible 21 years.
An ITV source told The Sun: “Andy just loves Corrie. It is in his blood and he never wants to go anywhere else.
“Lots of other actors get itchy feet and want to go on to do other stuff and some think they want to star in ‘higher quality’ telly.
“But for Andrew, there is no higher-quality telly. It’s the nation’s favourite soap – a national institution that’s been on the box for 60 years, so why would he want to go anywhere else?”
While Andrew enjoys his time on set, he also cherishes moments with his two children, Thomas, 15, and Hollie, 13, whom he shares with his wife, Nichola Willis.
Andrew, who joined I’m A Celebrity in 2019, was seen sobbing in the bush telegraph after missing his children.
The star became a runner-up in his series with Jacqueline Jossa snatching the victory.
