In recent weeks, the Knight family have taken centre stage as they dealt with patriarch George finding out the truth about his birth parents and heritage.

As he struggled to come to terms with the information, and the subsequent revelation that his adoptive dad killed his birth father, George has confided in ex-wife, Cindy Beale.

During one heart-to-heart, the former couple shared a kiss and recently, George’s current partner Elaine Peacock found out and dumped him.

While Elaine initially kept schtum about it to Cindy’s partner Ian, she eventually told him the upsetting news of Cindy’s betrayal.

However, Cindy’s behaviour has rubbed some EastEnders viewers up the wrong way.

Taking to a soap fan forum, one asked the question: “Is there any character you are sick of the sight of?”

They then added their own thoughts, writing: “Cindy for me. She’s an old woman still wanting to sleep around like she’s in her 20s.

“She disgusts me, and she’s playing with Ian’s feelings.”

Another replied: “Agree about Cindy but because she isn’t a nice person at all.”

A third commented: “For me, definitely Cindy. Most characters in Eastenders lack self-awareness, but Cindy is the heaveyweight champ in that degree.

“She continually causes trouble, disrespects other people’s relationships and her own, but somehow ALWAYS thinks she’s the victim.”

Meanwhile a fourth shared: “Cindy. Mainly because I feel the story they have given her is terrible.

“Really don’t care for her ‘relationship’ with Ian either. I mean for crying out loud she tried to have him killed in the 90s.

“Do we really believe he would forgive that?”

However, others defended the character, with one writing: “I like Cindy and her and George have unfinished business. For me it’s Linda.”
