CORONATION Street has aired a shock double exit – and only one of them is returning.
The ITV soap said goodbye to Eliza Woodrow tonight as she left the cobbles for a new life in Germany and her grandfather Stu Carptenter decided to go with her.
Yasmeen told Stu he should go with Eliza, at least for a few weeks, while she settles into her new life in Germany with her dad and his family.
Stu was taken aback but agreed.
He told Yasmeen: “I really appreciate everything you did for her, you gave her the home she needed, the home I needed.
“I don’t want to go anywhere unless you want me to. I know things haven’t been great between us recently.
“While I’m away it will give you the space to think about what you really want.
“I really want this to work but you’ve got to be certain you want that too. And if not then no hard feelings, I’ll just pack my bags…”
Later Yasmeen, Sam and Hope assembled to wave the pair off.
“It’s not goodbye, it’s Auf Wiedersehen,” said Sam after Eliza asked him and Hope to come and visit her.
And Yasmeen had words for Stu as he accompanied Eliza to Germany for her first few weeks in her new life.
She said: “You know you’re still welcome here when you get back. Maybe a clean slate?”
“I’d like that,” Stu replied as they climbed into the taxi.
“Ready for a new adventure kidda?” he asked
