Cameras would follow the former business secretary as he campaigned for the General Election in July and include his home life at Gournay Court, the seventeenth-century mansion in Somerset with a private chapel, where he lives with his heiress wife Helena de Chair and their six children.

Mr Rees-Mogg told The Sun on Sunday: “Yes I have been approached.

“It is very flattering. I am thinking about it.

“I may be talking to them in reasonably short order.”

It comes after Jacob garnered fanbase among viewers with his GB News show State of the Nation.

A telly source said: “Jacob is a divisive, fascinating character who lives an old-fashioned life and TV producers think a fly-on-the-wall series could be a hit.

“He is very well spoken, staunchly religious, speaks fluent Latin and not afraid to air his views, which makes for a unique watch.

“His opinions aren’t for everyone but he will certainly get people talking.”

Like ex PM Boris Johnson Mr Rees-Mogg was educated at Eton and Oxford, and has amassed a private fortune of £100 million thanks to his the investment firm he co-founded in 2007 Somerset Capital Management.

I’m A Celeb winner Georgia Toffolo apologised for calling him a “sex god” upon their first meeting.

He responded: “Don’t worry. I was mildly embarrassed but enormously flattered, so thank you.”

In 2018 he said: “The trick to surviving a large family is to keep your head when children around you are nearly losing theirs. I’m all in favour of nannies – but not the nanny state.”
