Emmerdale slammed for ripping off old storylines with shock death as another father loses his son

EMMERDALE fans have slammed the soap for repeating storylines after the shocking death of a fan favourite character.

Earlier this week, the ITV soap said goodbye to Ethan Anderson as he collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

Grieving Charles is on a mission to prove that the hit and run that injured him caused his death[/caption]

Viewers know Ethan had been the victim of a hit and run after Ruby Fox-Miligan brutally mowed him down in revenge for leaving her son Nicky to die.

Ruby and Caleb couldn’t help themselves but to mock Ethan as he faced court today – but it backfired when Ethan warned her that he knew about her scheme with Dawn Taylor’s mum Rose.

Ethan went home and got advice from his dad before deciding to leave a voicemail for Dawn.

But as he got ready for court, he was chatting to his dad, preparing for prison, when Ethan suddenly collapsed.

Charles began CPR as he phoned an ambulance and Manpreet rushed in and took over, battling to save Ethan’s life.

An ambulance arrived and Ethan was rushed to hospital.

But that was the last time he was seen, with Charles and Manpreet arriving back in the village at the end of the episode with the news that Ethan had died.

Claudette begged to know how her grandson was but Charles told her: “He’s gone mum.

“He’s dead. Ethan’s dead. We know what happened, he was run over. Someone knocked him down and a few days later… it’s murder. And I swear by almighty God I will not rest until whoever did this pays for what they’ve done.”

Now, the grieving father Charles is on a mission to prove that the hit and run that injured him in the first place was ultimately responsible for his death.

However, fans of the ITV soap have bashed the writers for copying Heath and Bob Hope’s storyline, who also had a grieving father.

Heath was tragically killed in a car crash on New Year’s Day.

Cathy, who had been seen at the wheel of Wendy Posner’s car moments prior, was immediately blamed.

But during her police questioning, Cathy insisted she had actually given Angelica the chance to drive and she was really responsible for Heath’s death.

Both pals are throwing the blame on to one another, with a grieving Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) standing in the middle, desperate for answers and almost fully convinced that his daughter is lying due to her long track record of poor behaviour.

Taking to a fan forum, one viewer said: “While I was never bothered about Ethan as a character, what is the point in killing him off?

“We’re just going to get the same grieving father scenes of Charles that we’ve had with Bob and Liam previously.”
