CORONATION Street fans fear Roy Cropper will die after spotting cryptic clue linked to his late wife Hayley Cropper.

Corrie viewers know that the beloved café owner – played by David Neilson – is currently serving a prison sentence after being charged with missing Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder.

Roy’s lawyer Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) is working hard to prove Roy’s innocence, meanwhile Roy pushes away everyone he cares about including Carla, Bobby, Nina and Evelyn.

The ITV soap have confirmed the return on Roy’s late wife Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh), who sadly died on the street back in 2014 after she took her own life following her lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

It has been 10 years since viewers have seen Hayley on their screens.

She will be reunited with Roy through his hallucinations and nightmares while he is in prison.

A spokesperson for the soap said: “Soap operas are known for featuring fantastical elements, and characters returning from the dead or appearing in dreams is not uncommon.”

The soap released a new trailer teasing this week’s episode where the truth behind Lauren’s disappearance will finally be exposed.

Some fans noticed that the classical music in the background, named Ralph Vaughan Willias’ The Lark Ascending, sounded very familiar.

They pointed out it was the same music that played when Hayley died.

It was played on a CD for Hayley when she drank her lethal cocktail of medicine to end her pain.

And now fans think Roy will have the same fate and die.

Taking to X – formally known as Twitter – one fan fumed: “The music in this trailer is the piece Hayley died to, IF ROY DIES I SWEAR!”

Another pleaded: “Wait this is the same song Roy played for Hayley when she died… please nooooo.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
