ONE of the main hosts of BBC Breakfast has officially made a return to the box after ‘going missing’.

Sally Nugent made her BBC Breakfast comeback after fans praised Nina Warhurst who filled in alongside Jon Kay, 54, during her absence.

Sally, 52, was officially back on the iconic BBC Breakfast red couch after a mystery leave of absence.

She wore a sleek cream and beige ensemble as she gave viewers the latest news and updates from across the country.

Her co-host Jon gave her a warm welcome back as he introduced her standalone bulletin news segment as she stunned in her satin cream-sleeved top and summer trousers.

Although her co-star seemed delighted to have her back, it seems that some of the BBC viewers were not so full of praise.

They soon flocked to social media as they posted on X – formerly known as Twitter – to let their views be known.

One viewer wrote: “Sally is so scripted. She’s looking down reading questions and even when she interjects it sounds like she’s reading the interjection. Painful.”

“Sally’s back on BBC Breakfast … Yay,” sarcastically penned a second fan.

And a third commented: “To be fair, Sally seems to have had her Weetabix this morning.”

This was whilst a fourth cynical viewer had a slightly different view as they posted: “Nice one Sally for putting that t*** Mel Stride on the spot.”

Her previous replacement Nina, has been filling in for some days on the corporation’s flagship programme.

Yesterday they called for the star to have a more permanent role on the long-running show.

One enthusiastic fan noted: “I think you should give Nina Warhurst a full-time role on the programme, she’s too good and not on enough for my liking.”

As a second echoed: “Nina’s looking very summery this morning.”

This comes after she also filled in for Naga Munchetty, 49, for several days last week.

Who presents BBC Breakfast?

BBC Breakfast has several presenters throughout the week, here's a breakdown of who's on and when.

Every Monday to Wednesday Sally Nugent and Jon Kay are the lead presenters.

Thursday through Saturday is anchored by Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.

When the main presenters take time off, popular stand-ins have included the likes of Rachel Burden, Nina Warhurst, Tina Daheley and Sarah Campbell.

When she is not sitting on the sofa, Nina is known for her consumer and business reports which she presents Monday through to Wednesday.

Rachel Burden and Tina Daheley are well known within the BBC for their significant roles in radio.

Rachel has presented the weekday breakfast show on BBC Radio 5 Live since 2011.

This is as Tina is best known for reading the news on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Zoe Ball.

Ben Boulos is also a regular host during the week as he presents the business and consumer items every Thursday through to Saturday.

John Watson and former Strictly Come Dancing star Mike Bushell make up the sporting team.

Fan-favourite Carol Kirkwood is the main weather presenter after she worked behind the scenes of BBC Breakfast Time in 1983.
