A CORONATION Street favourite will be arrested for a crime she committed over 23 years ago.
Corrie viewers know that Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) opened up to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) about giving birth to a baby girl six months in 2001 when she was 19, after being raped by Phil Simmonds (Jack Deam).
Sadly, the baby wasn’t breathing and Toyah decided not to tell anyone, and buried the tot’s body on the Red Rec by a Rose bush.
Next week on the ITV soap, Toyah begs her sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) to open her eyes and see Rowan (Emrhys Cooper) for what he really is.
But they are interrupted when the police arrive and Kit arrests Toyah for murder after the body of a baby was found buried in the park.
Will Toyah tell the truth? And will the police believe Toyah’s story?
Coronation Street fans have been up in arms about Toyah’s controversial storyline ever since it was announced, and are even more furious now it is playing out on their screens.
One said: “You’re trying to tell me Toyah has managed to conceal this information for 23 years, not a shed of grief whatsoever and in the last 2 eps she’s a grieving mother?”
Another added: “Corrie dangerously rewriting history here with Toyah just for the thrill factor of a new storyline.”
A third penned: “Why are they only bringing this up now? Very bad taste.”
A fourth chimed in: “Ridiculous storyline! I’m turning over. Didn’t think the Corrie writers could get any worse.”
