VIEWERS had mixed reactions as ITV thriller Red Eye aired its final episode last night.
The six-part political crime drama told the story of Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage), a British doctor being extradited to China on suspicion of murder.

Although Matthew confirmed the car crash, he denied the deceased Shen Zhao had been a passenger in his vehicle.
Meanwhile DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi), who was born in Hong Kong, was designated to accompany Matthew on his return flight to Beijing.
The flight however takes a dramatic turn when dead bodies start piling up – while intelligence agencies on the ground try to get to the bottom of a conspiracy.
All six episodes premiered on ITVX on April 21, although also aired each Sunday at 9pm.
As the show progressed, fans have not held back in sharing their opinions of the series.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one person wrote: “Stuck with Red Eye on ITV hoping for a big pay off even though it’s been a drag to get through and it was a total anticlimax.”
Another added: “It’s completely implausible and ridiculous at times but as Alec Guiness said when he first read the script for Star Wars, I had to keep turning the page.”
A third viewer said they ultimately gave up on watching Red Eye, describing the show as “too stupid.”
A fourth watcher penned: “Red Eye on ITV is quite possibly one of the worst things I’ve ever watched. Writing/acting- sorry overacting… it’s been bad from the get go!”
However, not everyone had negative thoughts about Red Eye, with others praising the series.
One posted: “Just finished Red Eye on ITV, good little series that was!”
“Red Eye was fantastic! We watched them on ITVX”, another person echoed.
The cast also includes Lesley Sharp, Jemma Moore, Dan Li, Jonathan Aris, Thomas Chaanhing and Mido Hamada, among others.
All six episodes of Red Eye are available to watch on ITVX.
