ONE of the Motherland fan favourites have ruled out returning for the spin-off.
The hit BBC comedy was previously given the axe by the corporation after four series.
Motherland was axed by the corporation after multiple series on the airwaves[/caption] Actress Anna Maxwell-Martin has praised her co-stars[/caption]Anna Maxwell-Martin, 47, played the role of Julia Johnstone in Motherland, which first appeared on the box in 2016.
Viewers loved to watch her grasp the concept of parenthood as she was forced into a more active role in her children’s lives.
However, the series came to an end after the second Christmas special in December 2022.
Instead, the publicly funded corporation announced for a new spin-off series which will focus on the character of Amanda (played by Lucy Punch).
The series in the works is called ‘Amandaland,’ and it will see the character undergo a huge change in lifestyle after her divorce from Johnny.
Although fans but expect to see Anna reprise her role in the new show, unfortunately she has poured cold water on any speculation.
She confirmed that she has no intentions to make a cameo on the new show when she spoke to Alex Jones and Roman Kemp on The One show last night.
The actress explained: “No, I don’t think Julia or Kevin or Liz are popping in.
“But I’ll be really happy to see those two, because I really love them and I think they are so brilliant as well.”
She had nothing but praise for her former co-stars – which also includes Philippa Dunne – who will be the main figures of the new show.
Sher added: “Phil and Luce are brilliant comediennes and brilliant actresses, so yeah it’s good.”
Former Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley, 78, will also return to the series as Amanda’s mother Felicity.
The show will see Lucy Punch’s character relocate to South Harlesden as she raises her teenagers.
She will grapple with problems of modern motherhood including “teenage drinking, fake Instagram accounts and eco anxiety”.
