The revelation occurred on their wedding day just as she had said her vows, and a furious Whitney laid into both of them, before later telling Zack their relationship was over for good.

Whitney left on a bus for a new life up north with her brother Ryan, and Zack doesn’t take her departure well.

In upcoming EastEnders scenes, Lauren and Zack are both in a bad way following Whitney’s departure.

While Lauren bears the brunt of Cindy Beale’s spiteful comments, ex-boyfriend Peter tries to support her.

Meanwhile, Zack turns to booze and gets so drunk at The Albert that Felix insists Lauren takes him home, as he can’t reach Sharon or Martin.

Once at Zack’s, Lauren is horrified when he makes a pass at her before getting furious when she admits her role in Whitney’s decision to go.

Lauren is shocked when Zack shouts in her face, and later she confides in Peter about Zack’s angry outburst.

Peter marches over to confront him but Zack is horrified to realise what he did when drunk.

As Peter tears a strip off him, Zack breaks down in tears.

What will he do now he’s lost Whitney and his newborn daughter?

Meanwhile EastEnders fans shared their thoughts on Whitney’s exit, with some branding it one of the “worst ever”.

One wrote: ”Shona McGarty’s final episode might quite possibly be one of the worst episodes I’ve ever endured. That’s exactly what it felt like. I had to endure it. I never wanna hear the names Whitney, Britney or Peach & the phrase ‘what’s best for my daughters Zack’ ever again. #Eastenders”

A second said: “#EastEnders this is possibly up there with the worst ending especially for Whitney. I wish her and Jay got together had a baby and left the square happily ever after.”

Another added: “Thank God that’s over and Whitney and the Artful Dodger Brittany are gone. It was excruciatingly awful to watch, the worst most unnecessarily complicated exit ever. It was wrong in so many ways. If l never see or hear Bianca again it’s fine with me. What a waste. #Eastenders”.
