CORONATION Street star Ciaran Griffiths has secretly tied the knot just weeks after leaving the soap.
The 41-year-old, who has played Damon Hay for two years, shared the first snap of his wedding on social media as he posed with his new wife on a boat in front of Sydney Opera House.
Ciaran is best known for playing Damon Hay[/caption]Ciaran is originally from Manchester but lives in Australia with his wife and son.
He moved there in 2019 for a theatre production and met his now wife, so decided to stay.
Speaking about working from home before the actor, who keeps his personal life very private, said: “It was hard the first time, but my son is a bit older now, he understands a bit more so I don’t feel as guilty leaving him, even though I’m doing it for them anyway.
“But the weather’s terrible, I’m never ill in Australia, yet I get here and straight away I’ve got a cold!”
Ciaran, who also appeared on Shameless, left Corrie last month.
His character Damon was arrested for armed robbery after being blackmailed into it by brother Harvey Gaskell.
He had the option to turn on Harvey and be freed to live his life with girlfriend Sarah Platt but he knew they would never be safe.
So he decided to plead guilty and accept years in prison with Harvey instead.
He asked Sarah to visit him so he could dump her, saying: “You’ve got to walk away. I’m sorry, it’s my decision. Goodbye Sarah.”
A source said at the time: “Ciaran’s loved his time on the show but Damon’s story came to a natural end for now.
“The door has been left open but for now it’s time to say goodbye to him.”
