Now series writer Lucia Haynes, has teamed up with Robert Thorogood, creator of Death In Paradise.
The duo have also collaborated with Julia Gilbert who wrote episodes of Midsomer Murders.
Together, they worked for another murder mystery series called The Marlow Murder Club.
The second instalment of the drama follows three main cases, as the first two episodes were based on Robert’s second book, Death Comes to Marlow.
Other episodes of the show will form part of the new standalone stories.
There’s due to be plenty of action in the upcoming programme as the synopsis reads: “Life in the idyllic town of Marlow has just about returned to normal after the triple murder that rocked the community.
“But it’s not long before retired archaeologist Judith Potts (played by Samantha Bond), Vicar’s wife, Becks Starling (Cara Horgan), and dog-walker, Suzie Harris (Jo Martin) are called back into action when a series of new unsettling crimes befall the local residents.
“From a seemingly impossible murder inside the locked study of a sweeping mansion to the mysterious case of a man murdered in the middle of a sleepy cul-de-sac with no connection to the town, and an unexpectedly brutal accident at the prestigious Marlow sailing club that quickly reveals itself to be something more sinister, there’s no rest for our sleuthing trio.
“Navigating the delicate balance of Marlow society – from local aristocracy to the workers at the local boatyard, the pubs and cafes of the high street to a newly established archaeological dig – Judith, Becks, and Suzie dig into all corners of Marlow life as they assist DCI Tanika Malik (Natalie Dew) in her official investigations.”
The Marlow Murder Club books remain extremely popular and have sold in excess of 350,000 copies.
They have been translated for 24 territories as they landed on the The Sunday Times bestselling lists.
This comes as Robert Thorogood is hard at work with his fourth book which is set to be published in January 2025.
Meanwhile, the cast of Vera are hard at work filming the final scenes of the ITV drama.
Production was initially set in motion in Cambois, Northumberland – which is located in the North East of the UK.
The cast were then spotted when Vera’s iconic Land Rover was parked near Blyth beach.
Production units have since been seen in other UK locations which include the likes of Ashington, Gateshead, and South Shields.
