KATE Garraway was left blushing on today’s Good Morning Britain after making an awkward toilet confession.

The veteran broadcaster, 57, headed to Buckingham Palace earlier this week for an event celebrating Prince‘s Trust Award winners.

While meeting and shaking hands King Charles was an honour and highlight, Kate was also blown away by the immaculate loos.

She paid particular attention to the lavatory seats having recently shopped for her own at Home Base.

“Funnily enough, they have great toilet seats in the Palace,” she told co-host Adil Ray.

“I actually had a conversation with myself in the toilet about how they keep them so shiny and unscratched.”

A stunned Adil said: “What?! Did you actually have this conversation? Or are you doing this for affect?”

Kate replied: “I was in the cubicle thinking ‘crikey, I’ve got a black toilet seat and it’s not this shiny’!”

Adil then asked: “I wonder what the person in the next-door cubicle thought about you talking out loud to yourself?”

Kate said: “I imagine he was having the same conversation.”

Picking up on Kate’s surprise use of “he”, Adil exclaimed: “He?! He?!”

A flustered Kate put her head in her hands as Adil laughed: “Wow! Revelation!”

Trying to cover her slip of the tongue, Kate added: “Or, she, or whatever they chose to be!”

The Palace event, which was celebrating the Trust’s 20th anniversary, was attended by an array of famous names including Declan Donnelly, Strictly’s Johannes Radebe and Lorraine presenter Tyler West who fist-bumped the King.

Dec told the monarch how Ant McPartlin was missing the occasion on account of his newborn baby.

He joked: “He’s got a week-old baby he’s breastfeeding, or helping with.”

Charles, 75, laughed and said: “Please give him my regards.”

Meanwhile Kate recently celebrated her first birthday since the death of husband Derek Draper.

After sharing a birthday spread of tea and cake with her loved ones, Kate took to her Instagram to put: “Well yesterday was another one of those sad firsts – my first birthday sine Derek’s passing. Woke up feeling so sad and thought well, I can either cry all day or celebrate life as he did so well.”

“And thanks to wonderful friends it worked! See you on @gmb tomorrow from 6 – happy bank holiday weekend everyone!”

Dad-of-two Derek was left fighting for his life in hospital after suffering a heart attack over the festive period but was already one of the UK’s longest-suffering Covid patients, after being diagnosed in March 2020.

He died holding Kate’s hand in January, and the following month his wife paid a touching tribute to her late spouse at his funeral.
