Gemma shot to fame in 2011 on the second series of ITVBe’s The Only Way Is Essex, and became a huge fan favourite straight away.

This meant that more and more people started to recognise her, she gained a stalker and had to give up working at her clothes shop in Brentwood.

Speaking on The Mail’s Everything I Know About Me Podcast, Gemma said: “No one would believe the bloody crap I’ve had to deal with.

“I’ve had a woman stalker that wrote me a letter in white gloves and wanted to kill me.

“I mean, we laugh because you know, that’s bizarre, but actually, then when you go home of a night on your on your own and you’re drinking your cup of tea it does play havoc on your mind.”

Gemma added: ” I’d get all sorts turn up at the shop, people are weird.

“That’s why in a way I came away from my shop in the end. I mean, I was the success to the business, and I built it up.

“It was my baby and then I couldn’t just crack on because I was getting so well known, which I’m grateful for but I couldn’t just be that girl in the shop sorting you out nice dresses and clothes.

“So many weirdo stalkers. That’s the downsides to it but I don’t like to dwell on bad stuff.

“I always try and find a laugh in the situation, but yeah, when they’re threatening to kill you, we do have to inform the police at that stage.

“Thank God I’ve got enough money to now have a good security system.”

Baby Reindeer, which was released on Netflix last month, has become a huge talking point in recent weeks.

The show is based on comedian Richard Gadd’s real life – and he has taken the role of main character Donny Dunn.

The aspiring funnyman, who is a bartender at a pub in London, gets stalked by a customer called Martha (Jessica Gunning).

Gemma previously opened up about her stalker ordeal in 2018.

Gemma told The Sun: “Just recently I’ve got someone sending death threats to my shop every day, it’s a Birmingham postcode stamp so I think they live in Birmingham.”

The following year she was forced to buy a new home after she saw a man lurking outside her current flat.

Earlier this week Gemma revealed that she was left traumatised after her dog was attacked in her own home.

The GC had to rush her pooch Blue to the vets after he was bitten by another dog.

The shocked star wrote: “I’ve had the most heartbreaking upset this weekend, a dog entered my property and bit my Blue.

“I want to thank the emergency vets and @jepicpics for helping me whilst I was so distressed.”

Asking for advice, Gemma wrote: “Can anyone advise if a dog enters your property and bites your dog what course of action is needed.

“As you can imagine I’m in complete shock, thank god for my cameras on the property as I caught the owners.”

Gemma welcomed Blue into her family last September.
