MAYA Jama has become one of the most popular TV hosts in the UK.
One person who is particularly proud of her achievements is her beloved mum, Sadie.
Who is Maya Jama’s mother?
Maya Jama was born in Bristol and raised by her mum Sadie.
Her mother gave birth to her when she was 18 years old.
Sadie is of Swedish descent while Maya’s father Hussein is of Somali descent
Her mum named her after the US author and poet Maya Angelou.
Sadie previously appeared alongside her famous daughter in All Round To Mrs Brown’s Boys.
Maya is incredibly close to her mum and also her brother Omar.
She told Marie Claire magazine how thankful she is that her mum found a new partner who is kind to her.
Thanks to her step dad she got to see what a real loving relationship is like after her dad wasn’t around much while she was growing up, due to being in and out of prison.
The star explained: “When I was 10, my mum met my stepfather and he is the loveliest man.
“So I got to see a loving relationship, which I think is important for young girls who grow up without their dad to see love and know what a good relationship looks like.
“My dad wasn’t there, but I had plenty of love from other people.”

She even told the Evening Standard that she reckons the smaller parent-daughter age gap has brought them even closer over the years.
Maya explained: “She had me at 18, so our relationship was a bit different. I rebelled less because I was quite free.
“My mum’s always been like, ‘I want you to have your experiences—just tell me. I’m not going to judge you or shout at you.”
However, she did admit that sometimes Sadie takes the ‘cool mum’ vibe a bit too far.
Maya confessed: “She’s banned from my parties though. She gets too drunk.”
She also admitted they often get mistaken for sisters, adding: “All my boyfriends and friends that were guys fancied her.”
Maya revealed in an interview that she had to keep landing the Love Island gig a secret from Sadie.
Speaking to ITV, she said: “I’m not a good liar. I didn’t tell my mum because she’d get too excited and tell people.”

Sadie is not active on Instagram or TikTok, and can’t be found on social media.
However, Maya often wows fans with images of her lookalike mum.

Love Island returns to our screens with Maya Jama as host on June 3, 2024.
The search for love will launch at 9pm as part of a multichannel takeover on ITV1, ITV2, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
It will continue on ITV2 and ITVX for the remainder of the series.

Patsy is 29 from London and has Erb’s Palsy.
This means one of her arms is shorter than the other and has less function.
She has spoken out on social media about her disability in the past.
She said: “One thing you guys don’t know about me is I have a disability. I have never spoken about it on here before because I am a bit self-conscious about it to be honest.
“Pretty much everyone says they don’t notice it, or they have never noticed it before but once I tell you go back and look through my old videos, you’ll be able to spot it.”

Samantha Kenny from Liverpool could be entering the Love Island villa this summer.
The 27-year-old works in a beauty salon as a make-up artist.
Samantha is no stranger to social media as she’s often seen posting on Instagram.

Grace Jackson is a Manchester-based model.
The influencer is already followed by famous faces such as Molly-Mae Hague and Conor McGregor.
The 25-year-old works for the agency MM Models.

Welshman Ciaran Davies is set to enter the Majorca villa.
A source told us: “Ciaran caught the eye of Love Island bosses immediately.
“He’s gorgeous with a fit athletic build that will send the girls in the villa wild, but he’s also a sweet boy next door from Wales to boot.
“He’s the kind of lad you could happily take home to your mum.
“He’s been in talks with bosses for weeks and is set to jet out to the villa in Majorca in the coming week or so.”
