What is Monty Don’s net worth?

Born on July 8, 1955, Monty Don is a gardening expert and TV presenter.

He is most recognised for his work on Gardeners’ World, and this is where he makes his money.

What my garden cost, I couldn’t buy a parking space in London for now.

Monty joined the popular BBC show as presenter in 2003, taking over from the out going Alan Titchmarsh, and has been there ever since.

Thanks to his BBC TV career, plus the books that he has released, Monty has an impressive net worth of around £1 to 3M.

Does Monty Don have a jewellery business?

Before finding fame on TV, and together with his wife Sarah, Monty set up a lucrative jewellery business in the early 80s.

The pieces were sold in 30 countries all over the world, featured in Vogue, and boasted celebrity fans including Princess Diana and Michael Jackson.

The brand – Monty Don Jewellery – was so successful that it was stocked in Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

The couple went on to open their own store in London’s posh Knightsbridge.

Monty previously told the Independent that Sarah was “75 per cent of the designing brains” while he was the salesman.

Sadly their business went under in 1987 following the Wall Street Crash, and the couple faced bankruptcy.

Don described their collapse as “spectacular”, adding: “We were all along pretending to be businessmen and now our cover had been blown.

“But I was working with someone I loved. And I loved the tools and the skills that came with it. We certainly learnt a good deal from the whole experience.”

However, some of their exquisite jewellery is still displayed in the V&A museum to this day.

Where does Monty Don live?

Monty and his family live in a sprawling estate in Herefordshire, that they had to completely renovate.

They bought Longmeadow in 1991, which is a Tudor hall house with two acres of land.

Speaking about what the property was like when they bought it, Monty told The English Home: “When we bought this house it was a ruin – no roof, electricity, running water or sanitation,” .

“It took 10 years to finish the initial building work.”

His home is used as the location for his popular BBC show, Gardeners’ World.

Monty’s own personal garden at Longmeadow has been the backdrop for the show over the years with the star telling the The Guardian : “What my garden cost, I couldn’t buy a parking space in London for now.”

Has Monty Don ever shared pictures of his own garden?

Much to his fans delight, Monty regularly shares pictures of his stunning garden.

As the show is filmed there, he likes to keep his followers up-to-date with his beautiful grounds all year around.

He also posts pictures of his home, and his beloved dog.

What other TV shows has Monty Don appeared in?

Every since he burst onto the scene, Monty has become a familiar face on the box.

Away from Gardeners’ World he is also known for Monty Don’s Italian Gardens, as well as the French, American and Japanese versions of the show.

Monty also hosted The Secret History of the British Garden.
