The soap is also being cut from five episodes a week to just three.

As the cast is slowly being culled, with Stephanie Waring being announced as the latest to be axed.

But now fans are worried that Rory Douglas-Speed could be next on the chopping block.

The actor, who has played Joel Dexter since 2016, has shared two clues that he could be leaving the soap.

The first clue was a selection of new headshots with a cryptic caption.

He shared three emojis: a film camera, a lightning bolt and a zipped-mouth smiley.

One worried fan commented: “ I hope this doesn’t mean you’re leaving ‘Oaks!”

A second asked: “ Don’t say new headshots mean you’re leaving the Oaks??”

While a third cried: “ I hope you don’t get axed from Hollyoaks.”

The second hint that he could be moving on is that he’s got rid of his character’s curly hair.

One commented: “ Looove the new look.”

While another gushed: “ Yes, Rory! Loving the barnet.” And a third simply added: “ New look.”

Fellow Hollyoaks star also sparked rumours after sharing a similar post to Rory.

Gregory Finnegan, who has been on the show since 2016, also shared a selection of fresh headshots.

“Aw god is this a sign you are leaving hollyoaks new headshots,” one wrote with a crying emoji.

“If he has had headshots done it means he will be leaving Hollyoaks in September Im not happy about this,” another wrote.

“You and a bunch of others from the Hollyoaks cast getting new headshots are getting me worried, I know Hollyoaks will axe a bunch from the cast for next season, I really hope you are not one of them.”

However, some people pointed out that Greg’s last headshots were 12 years old and needed updating.

“New headshots doesn’t always mean a actor is leaving a show,” they wrote.

RUMOURED

Stephanie, who plays Cindy Cunningham, is one of the latest stars to be dropped from the show.

She told us how she ‘broke down in tears’ when she was sacked.

Jonas Khan also confirmed his exit in recent weeks with a blunt post on social media.

He skipped a heartfelt caption and simply wrote: “Hollyoaks! Done.”

Jonas had played Zain Rizwaan on the soap for the past two years, having been introduced as an Imam there to help the Maalik family in the wake of their torment at the hands of Ali Shahzad (Raji James).

Last month, Jamelia left her role of Sharon Bailey, despite being offered the opportunity to extend her contract.

Sharon was seen leaving the village for a new life in Dubai, despite protests from her mum Pearl (Dawn Hope) and daughter Zoe (Garcia Brown), whom she left behind.

Last month Lizzie Chen-Williams (Lily Best) died in the arms of her dad Dave (Dominic Power) after a father-daughter dance on his wedding day.

She had taken dodgy drugs while at The Loft after being pressured by friends it could ‘take the edge off’ the stressful day.
